Do You Stumble In Serving God?
My #1 stumbling block that hinders me from doing what God wants is... me! I feel I'm not good enough, or I don't know enough. I'm just not sure enough, or think I can't do enough to be successful for God.
But then I'm reminded of 1 Corinthians 1:26-29.
"For you see your calling, brethern, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence."
And verse 31 "That according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
In Exodous 3 and 4 we learn how God used Moses, even though Moses felt the same stumbling blocks I do. God answers our every stumbling block!
Stumbling Block #1: Lack of Self Esteem.
"Who am I?" (Exodous 3:11)
We should glory that God is with us! (Ex. 3:12)
Stumbling Block #2: Lack of Knowledge
Moses didn't know God's name. (Ex. 3:13)
We should glory that we know God, The Great I AM! (Ex. 3:14 & Jeremiah 9:23-24)
Stumbling Block #3: Lack of Confidence
"They will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice." (Ex. 4:1)
We should glory that God uses what we have!
"What is that in thine hand?" (Ex. 4:2)
Stumbling Block #4: Lack of Ability
"I am not eloquent...I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue." (Ex. 4:10)
We should glory in God's grace! (Ex. 4:11 & 2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
Moses succeeded and so will we! Not because of our own wisdom, or might, or riches, or of anything of ourselves. It's all God!
"That according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
