Do You Have Enemies?

As Christians, we have enemies, both physical and spiritual. Even when things are going well for us, and we are experiencing the mighty blessings of God, Satan is there, somewhere in the background, walking about "seeking whom he may devour".
-(1 Peter5:8)

Sometimes he uses people. "For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ", (Philippians 3:18)

Psalm 58 is one of many imprecatory Psalms, and reminds us we can, and should, deal with the enemy. Even in the good times.

Prepare for the Enemy (v1-5)

Expect the enemy to be:

Unrighteous and Unjust (v1)

Heartless and Violent (v2)

Wicked from the womb (v3)

Speaking lies (v3)

Poisonous, dangerous, and out of control (v4-5)

Pray Against the Enemy (v6-8)

Pray their Power will be Disabled (v6)

Pray their Plans will be Disappointed (v7)

Pray their Purpose will be Destroyed (v8)

Perceive the Ultimate Destruction of the Enemy (v9-11)

Their destruction comes quickly and surely. (v9)

Their destruction comes with God's wrath. (v9)

Their destruction comes with God's vengeance. (v10)

Their destruction comes with God's righteous judgement. (v11)

How to destroy an enemy:
"Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:20-21)

If you are living as an enemy of God, God's people desire you to be saved from the wrath and judgement that is sure to come.

That is also God's desire for you!

"Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." (Romans 5:9-10)
